had some fun in c36 today i met bmw m3

No offence there buddy but he should of easily went past you with no problems. its a 4L V8 with 414bhp and 0-60 in 4.8secs!

the new M3's are not much faster in the real world than the previous E46 M3.

I guess the M3 you raced was a 6-speed manual and he didn't know how to shift properly.

My friend has a tuned 2001 E55 AMG, pushing 394bhp, 416ibft, last year he had a little play with the new m3 v8, the m3 was stuck right up his rear but as soon as he got on a 2mile straight he floored it and pulled 3 cars ahead straight away but at the end the m3 closed the gap to about half a car and it stayed that way till *40mph..

It was a 6-speed manual and even the guy admitted he was surprised but he needs to work on his gear shifts, lol.

His E55 is very fast, every e46 m3 comes along he blows it away, he left an Audi S5 4 cars behind lol!

still smooth as @122K miles!

m3 takes an awful lot of beating. Not many Mercs apart from the C63 can match their performance end of. and no I dont own a BM !

Not really a C55 and SLK55 will kill an m3 on a straight line, I know that as i've raced 3.

and on the track the slk55 and c55 are about the same as an m3.. not talking about the CSL!

My previous car was an M3 btw.

if it was a E36 shape M3 then yep you would have had a chance, E46 upwards, maybe he was playing with you! :)

anyhow, the C36 is a lovely car and plenty of poke, enjoy

I've got a c36 too.Cannot wait to drive it for the first time. Its in the body shop till may - will pick it up then. After your story it got to be fast.
I will be driving mine all the way from Poland to UK.German autobahn's - no speed limits !!!!

It takes more than a reputation for being "unbeatable". The '32s and '55s of this world have a little more power and a lot more torque than the E46 M3. Next generation is another story mind!

I don't think there is a 2007 model but if it were a late-registered E46 then 338bhp. I think it would prove a significant challenge to a C36.

One of my neighbours has a new E90 M3 and the noise it makes is a significant challenge to my hairdrier..it sounds awful.

Glad you had some fun. :thumb:
C36 pulls very well, esp' at motorway speeds upwards. Technically the M3 should have had you, but in real life driving style etc plays a big part.

After all, those big heavy CLK/E55's are only a few 10th's of a second quicker over the 1/4 of a mile :D

am seriously thinking about buying a 6 month old m3, however would quite like a 63, however I am worried about resale. Will these out of vogue gas guzzlers have higher depreciation rates than their 3.0lt diesel counterparts ?

Unless it wasn't a proper M3 , just a kitted up 330 or something.

Lots of those round here , all running around with the M3 kit and badges on them , what usually gives them away are the wing mirrors , the youths hardly ever change them as it is a lot of hassle.

A 330 wouldn't see which way you went ....

Not sure, an E90 330 is 272bhp. They are pretty rapid, and with manual gearing and closer ratios it would be a close thing.

I don't know my BMW types , but a little google suggests 231 bhp for the E46 and 258 bhp for the E90 ?

Both with miles less torque than the C36.

I thought E numbers were bad for you?;):p

Thought it was higher than that but may be wrong. Its an all new engine from the engine in my old X5 and at the time, was the lightest six clyinder engine in the world.

Gizze had one on here.

I feel like a 17 year old again , looking up power outputs ... :o

good to bring some joy

as i say he shot up behind me lights ablaze i waited about 5 seconds and sliped on the s switch and hit the kickdown button and off i flew i just think he was not ready for that take off from a old 96 merc

he did not use indicators but most bmw drivers dont know what they are for anyway:doh:

i had fun as next time i think if we meet again one day he will leave me in a cloud of dust

I'm glad that you had "fun", but I'm pretty sure that he wasn't even racing you :D

2007 M3, so it's E92 with 4 litre v8, outputting 400+ bhp, and 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. He would've killed C36 without even trying...

Blimey that M3's 0-60 time is getting quicker as the day goes on !!

That's Some car !!
