Was coming home on the M25 when I spotted a silver CLK with AMG body kit and massive wheels up close, two cars behind me. Slowley it worked it's way up behind me, as it did with the others, staying 2 foot away from my bumper at 80mph with it's fog lights on for about 5 minutes in the flow of traffic. This i can not stand from any car. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I wasn't sure if it was a real CLK55 AMG or just a body kit car. Just incase it was an AMG, I downshifted to 3rd at 80mph keeping the same speed, in anticipation for a long strech to clear in front of me and then the chance came- nailed it all the way to redline in 3rd and manualy shifted into 4th at 120mph and kept it there for a few minutes.

Looked in the mirror and he was miles behind  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
I slowed down, and eventualy he passed with both the driver and the passenger looking humiliated  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Moral of the story:  never tail gate cars, especially ones that go faster than yours!!!  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

The girlfriend never woke up throughout the adventure, which was handy &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Spot on!

I cannot agree with driving with front fogs or tailgating - especially both as an intimidation tactic.

I like it when someone in a fast car shows whos boss!

Edit: - I presume you weren't on the variable speed limit section with the Gallery GATSO's!

So Matt, what is the spec of a CL500? If it was a CLK55AMG on your bumper i'd say it would be a close run thing with the CLK getting the better of you.

I have a 430CLK V8 with 276hp and a 6.2 sec 0-60 time. I really doubt i'd get the better of your CL <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> but it would be fun trying <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.

By the way, if I had the cash I would love a CL500 <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>.

Oh, I just hate the fog light brigade, it's as bad as those sitting in the outside lane at 70 thinking &quot;well this is the speed limit why should I get out of the way?&quot;.

On the kill front, I had a 330Ci sitting on my bumper on the M3 southbound. I flicked down into 3rd at 80 (a bit like you did) and left it standing. At 130 I slowed let it catch up but it never went by and stayed a few car lengths back from then on. Love it  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> By the way, anyone know the spec of a 330Ci? thought it would get the better of my 430CLK?

On the other had my friend has a new 996 turbo with 460 hp (i think) and about a 4.5 sec 0-60 time. I would keep a discrete distance from one of those <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Respect man <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I've timed my CL500 at 5.8 - 5.9 average 0-60mph using my race technology performance meter.

The CLK was a 2.3 kompressor, thus why I left it miles behind &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

If it was a CLK55 then I think I would be the one being humiliated, however I'd have liked to give it a try!

It would be interesting to see the difference between your CLK430 and my CL500, as I have a little more BHP, but &nbsp;more weight.

The 330ci they say does 0-60 in 6.2sec, however with the extra torque of the V8, you should easily beat it at higher speeds. Your V8 has nearly twice the torque of the BM's I6 &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Doh!

Once with my dad, we got raced by a E55, thing is, this was the day he bought it, on the way home, so we didnt REALLY know what it was capable of.

We let the E55 past, then pulled back out to the fast lane, and continued to follow it for about a mile at 110ish

HE booted it, and we followed, doing about 130, we continued to get closer and closer, till he pulled over, then we steadily passed him, but it was very close...

specs -

E55 - 354bhp, 391 lb/ft, 1720kg

CL600 - 398bhp, 422lb/ft, 2005kg

on paper, his should be quicker, and probably would be round country lanes etc, but the pure V12 power rules on the m'way.

Ill just stick to dreaming on this thread i think!!! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

But these guys are just making it possible for you...to do it more often <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

PS -
Given your position, I think yours was an admirably restrained post!

So now I'm thinking, &nbsp;how come your allowed to go that fast? (racing driver maybe?) Or should I not ask? &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

He can if you do...

I know now... There is one of your cars parked outside my office funnily enough (hopefuly not for the fore mentioned act&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> a 3.0 vauxhall omega with some hints of red and blue on the side and roof!  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Quick Maff - edit your first post and change your admission of breaking the speed limit ..... :)

Arrgh Traffic Cop!

Me has a hot sweat at the thought. Many times an enemy. No personal offense (as long as you havn't nicked me).

just for a laugh when I was at the stealership the parts guy and I went through the parts computer and checked out what emergency services parts I could order. &nbsp; If I had a white w202 I could have made it a replica police car by ordering a few parts...all the stickers, equipment, sirens/lights buttons, cables, everything is available for police cars, ambulances, fire engines, breakdown recovery, doctor's cars *everything*. &nbsp;I really fancy the green roof mounted doctor's car lights, I reckon they'd go really well with alexandrite paint. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
