you guys got any pics of sorry old girls like this 1?

2 things spring to mind.

1. That heap should be crushed immediately.
2. you have too much time on your hands.:D

How would that get an MOT?

as long as it's structurally fine why would it not?

It's only 300SE, plenty about so nothing to obsess over.

this looks like it skipped quality control.. that fading on the pain"T" is shocking!

Sad to see a W126 in that state - to be honest , I have seen better looking examples in breakers yards , but as stated all that is visually wrong is cosmetic and the car could still be structurally and mechanically sound .

Some people now pay a lot of money to create the 'rat look' , although it is usually air cooled VW's it is done to .

There is something cool about running a distressed looking Mercedes which just goes on regardless .

for starters the "rat look" only looks good on cars from or before the 70s and second it is only acceptable on an aircooled VW. Mercedes should be restored to their former glory, that's when they look best in my opinion. Shouldn't be forced to rust/look ratty!

Ouch. Lived near the sea i guess. Where i come from in South Devon it was funny seeing nearly new cars succumb to the rust bug.

Poor thing anyway. Its actually one of the more recent ones too isnt it.

I don't get this cars from seaside towns rusting thing, unless they are kept right on the Prom or driven into the sea.
Bay the nature of being low lying seaside towns don't need to use road salt due to milder weather and they are low lying.

Common and accepted occurence in my parts as many others i'm sure. And of course we use salt on the roads, lol. My Grandad was head of the roads team in The South Hams.

And why would seaside towns always have milder weather due in the winter to being lower?
They have the sea winds blasting at them on a regular basis. I'm sure people from seaside places in the North would agree. Brrrr. I always find even Brighton damn chilly in the colder seasons.

The sea salts the air for more distance than just the prom. (No prom where i was anyway, although Torquay isnt far if you wanted one, yuk.)

Bit different now that cars are better rustproofed anyway. Japanese cars used to be the worst, seen them 3 years old with rusted up wheel arches. And i remember rusty Mercs too not very old when i was a kid. And rusty Rolls Royces, which always shocked me. I love Rollers.

Maybe it is a choice for the owner of keeping this car running or having to walk ?

To be honest I'd rather be driving a £500 car like that rather than a Vauxhall/Ford etc.
