i was driving down the m8 the other night doing about 65-70 when i braked quite sharply, all of a sudden the car veered to the right violently and almost fish-tailed. it felt like there was an uneven distribution of power going to the brakes. what happened and what could have caused this? :dk:
cheers. :thumb:

diesel on the road?? not too much rain to clean the roads recently perhaps.

For future reference, the pedal on the far left is the HANDBRAKE. Don't use it ;)

LOL I was just going to comment on that :thumb:

Was it raining/had been? Did the ASR kick in (warning triangle on dash)

You can get your brakes tested on a brake testing machine similar to a rolling road. This should give you some information as to whether each wheel is taking its braking load and will give you a good start on where to look. It is possible that it is suspension related, brake related, tyre related or indeed road related. A testing machine and a competent operator will be able to narrow down the possibilities.

It is scary and can be very dangerous when something like that happens.

My advice, GET IT SORTED SOON & start with a brake testing machine.

Very cold. Snow to sea level in the south, snow to 300 m in the north. Had to put the heater on!

Anyway, let's get this man's car braking on the straight and narrow!

Regards to all, W.

Could there be a blockage/air/water in one of the brake pipes?
Thankfully bleeding the brakes is a relatively easy DIY task, with a kit like Eezibleed.

Close examination of brake calipers/discs/pads for jammed mechanism. Otherwise check for broken spring or failed shock absorber/s?
