Halfords BOGOF.

Bonus! I was planning to go there today anyway. Nice one. Ta. :D

I've had it with Halfords;
1) Wife bought a stereo system and Halfords supplied & fitted. Two of the 4 speakers were wrongly wired.
2) I bought a bike from Halfords under the Cycle to Work scheme, the 'prechecks' they did still managed to slip in a bent dérailleur hanger, brake levers loose and something else which I've forgotten.

I've found that chains like Halfords & KwikFit (don't get me started on them either) have people that simply don't give a stuff and can be wholly incompetent.

They must only be used as a cash and carry. You just can't expect the people who work in there to be ''technically minded'' I would guess that if they were ''proper good'' at this stuff they would not be working at Halfords? How much are they paying an hour? That is not to say that all Halfords staff are thick and useless, I'm sure there are some very good ones out there.

Everyone in my local Halfords looks about 10 years old, but if you know what you want I think their pricing is pretty good. Me being tight, I always shop around for the best price anyway and I love a BOGOF, particularly if it's for the car. :D

Agreed. I used to work for Halfords some years ago (when they were still wearing blue uniform - as opposed to the orange/black now), although they've changed a lot since then - I haven't really shopped there since, but I believe they've become more specialised, selling more higher-end bikes and car stuff.

I could imagine as with most retail outlets, pay is about 10% higher than minimum wage for the shop floor staff (don'tknow about the specialists thoguh), often part-timers usuallly studying at college/university, then quickly moving on after graduating.

Went and spent £55 in there today. What a nice feeling to get all that stuff for ''free'' mmmmmmmmm. :D

I'll tell a bit of an embarrasing story here...

Bought myself a BMW E34 touring a few years ago which needed wiper blades (dodgy wipers are a real pet hate of mine) So I went to Halfords, and bought a set of Bosch blades.Paid for them, and handed over my trade card. Wee lassie behind the counter took my card and asked "do you want us to fit these for you sir?" "No" says I." I'm a mechanic" and gave her a wry grin. Out to the carpark, took old blades off, tried to get packet of new blades open, knocked the wiper arm.... can you guess what happened next???

£ 60 quid excess for a new windscreen...

My local halfords is a joke, the "rudeboys" in there always look as if they are stoned. Whenever you ask them something, they'll just stare at you while what you just said is tryin to get processed in their half dead brains! "You alright bruv?" "yeah innit!" "know wot I mean?" "errr... hmm... dunno you know!"

Went into my local one today to replace some broken parts in my 150 piece socket set (pro range) and came out with a free Maguiers quick detailing spray as part of the BOGOF. :thumb:

Will probably go back at the weekend to really stock up :)

I always put an old towel across screens when I'm doing that job.
Years ago I was in a garage and a valeter let go of an arm as he folded it back and the wiper blade itself went straight through the toughened screen.

I've got Halfords trade discount, so the prices are good for me. Agreed though, staff usually don't have a clue.

I'm going to stock up on cleaning materials. Does this offer extend to Xenon bulbs too?

i bought some meguires and autoglym bits over the weekend, worth it if the price of the BOGOF item is the same!

Not sure about Halfords but not going to kwickfit even if they pay me from there own pocket!

With offers like this it's hard not to avoid halfords. I went in I bought what I wanted plus a bit more.

I've tried to get hold of some of the Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo under this over, mysteriously my local store seems to not even have a place for it (it has always stocked it before) and another nearby store I specially visited had a place for it but no stock . . .

hmmmm.
