I am trying to setup a Hp omnibook laptop with 12Gb Hd. every time you load fdisk it asks if you would like to enable large disk support. i say yess creat new partition and set the partition active same way as I always have.

Then i resart and begin win 98 prior to Xp upgrade. On beginning setup it states HD must be formatted (As I would expect) But then it says there is a problem and setup must exit.

On running the boot disk with CD rom support to get the Dos prompt the C: drive is showing full. ?????

If I then type setup Scan disks checks the drive and finds a file taking up 16Mb I then delete this file and the drive is showing 16Mb free.

Please help this one has got me beaten

Shaun - After using FDISK to create the partition and set the partition active, did you format the disk using FAT prior to running the Win98 setup?

Donk know whats going on but seem to have resolved it.

Swapped Hdd from one lap[top to another ran fdisk on that computer and formatted from a floppy swapped back into the HP setup hard drive in the Bios and then ran setup.

So far so good....
