Does anyone have any experience with these? They're the devices that allow you to connect your MP3 player/phone/laptop/DVD player to your car's radio. Similar to an FM Transmitter, but instead of transmitting, it directly wires into the aerial cable on the back of the radio. I'm considering buying one. I've had FM transmitters in the past, but I've found the bass is pitiful at best and completely missing at worst. Hoping a hard-wired modulator will be better.

The two products I'm considering are:

Pyle PLMD56 7 Channel FM Stereo Modulator with RCA Audio Output: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
RCA AUX Adapter Radio Stereo Input Audio Wired FM Modulator Antenna Port | eBay

The car isn't mine, so I'm not able to pull out the stereo and fit a decent one with AUX in!

Worked well on a Saab

Does not work will with sat nav and Tmc

Thanks for the replies. How was the bass? That was my number one complaint about the FM transmitter versions - no bass. Made the music sound awful!

No problem at all on the one I had audio quality was pretty good

Thanks, flango. I've ordered the Pyle branded one from Amazon (hopefully better service if something goes wrong). Will post my experiences with it in case someone else is looking!

Update!

The Pyle modulator arrived. Good thick cardboard box and suitably packaged inside. Added bonus of a two phono - two phono cable.

Wired in easily, but seems to have an issue where when it's turned on, it blanks out the entire radio spectrum except its own frequency. Easily solved by turning it off, but still a pain as it means I miss travel information while I'm driving as it can't be received.

The sound quality is great. A small amount of very quiet static occasionally but nothing to spoil the music too much.

I currently have it wired into a cigarette adapter plug; fortunate given the interference problem. I might email the manufacturer and see if they have any ideas.

On the one I had there were some toggle switches where you could set them to block other frequencies or still retain all frequencies and block the ones close to the frequency you were using or have all frequencies open

Same on yours maybe ?
