Harman Kardon advice please

I have a 2013 SL350 which has a Harmon Kardon system and a DVD 6 disc changer. I love the effects of surround sound. I have some 5.1 music files on my PC and I would like to be able to burn some audio tracks on dvd or cd in 5.1 format. Do I need dvd r+ or DVD r- discs and is it reasonably easy to burn them? I have tried copying these files to usb but the system doesn't recognise them (I think usb is only 2 track).

I believe that you can encode MP3 or AAC with 5.1 channels.

You should be able to find in the car's manual what kind of formats the media player supports on which mediums.
