Just had the gearbox oil changed in my 1994 G 300 auto

Gear change is now quite harsh and clunky, you can really feel the cogs engage. Up and down.

The garage have checked the level and all is well.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks

Did they use oil of the correct specification ?

As the level is OK I would be suspecting wrong spec. fluid too.

filter correctly fitted?

Thanks for the replies chaps.

They had it back yesterday and reckoned level, etc. was OK

I need to check on what fluid they used.

What should it be? It didn't come with an owners manual.

Unless there is something special about an auto box in G Wagen as compared to the same box in a car (which there might well be) then going off it's age I'd assume it would be Dexron II.

Garage have had the car most of the day and have checked propshaft, engine, gearbox mounts, etc.
They seem to think it is a gearbox issue, but admit they don't have the expertise to investigate any further.
Anyone know of a good cog-meister in and around Birmingham / Solihull please

I was going to suggest driver transmission, good to hear it's sorted.
