The online pricelists seem to shy away a little from these but as far as I know (not a great deal mind) it should be "easy" enough. 435 bhp to maybe a little over 500?
I think a newer 12/13 500 makes more sense than an older 08 plate 63. With the map the performance will be very similar.
I'm considering a new daily as my current one is going to be 30 next Feb and a CL would be great.

I'd be interested in this also. MSL quoted me around 70-80 bhp and 100 lbs/ft of torque. The 4.7 lump in the E500 is rated at 408 bhp

I haven't gone for it yet as my E500 is still under an extended warranty.

I’m sure this is much done in the US where MB sold tens of thousands of this engine in the W212 - I’ve seen ads for this engine on US tuning houses’ websites.

It’s probably not offered here much because hardly any of this engine were sold (howmanyleft lists 37 of them as E class and 2 as CLS). It was a bigger seller in the CL at 388 units and a few hundred SLs were sold with it, but I’d hazard a guess that not many CL or SL owners go in for modding, at least not in the first few years of ownership!

I hadn't driven my E500 for four months, until yesterday afternoon. I've mostly been driving around in a loaner C220d and our E220d.

The E500 feels plenty fast enough again!

I tend to find the same! (Though my 5.5 estate will be somewhat slower than your 4.7TT cabrio.) Much as I’d love an E63 5.5TT I do wonder how I’d ever use all that power...

W222 S500 also uses the M278 4.7 BT until the facelift.

Oh yeah, forgot that - best guess from adding all the model types for S500 on howmanyleft is that there are over 1500 of those out there. Surprisingly many! I doubt many are mapped though. I wonder if any of them are not obsidian black...

I've seen one S500 in Iridium Silver... most are lower models.

There was a grey S600 for sale on here not long ago.

I'm still on the fence about mapping my 278 engine, although I've not ever needed more power so far, the fact that there's more power available keeps making me want it. I need to speak to my insurance co and see how much they'll load the premium first.

Ah yes. Good idea to have a slow car to appreciate the fast one!

To make it really quick I drive my VW Polo for a week before getting back into the E500.!
