Actually, the 7 is a great car! I had one a while back and enjoyed it a lot. Not so keen on the repair bills, but the drive was superior, IMO. I wasn't too good with the iDrive, but my wife sussed it very quickly - must be the analytical Russian mind!
I'm a gadget freak and I like the I-Drive because its fiddly.
I remember my uncle having a test drive of a 530d and I was with him, I learnt how to work it after 30 mins.
On another note he bought an E320 CDi AG instead.
I took a 730d out and didnt like driving it as much as a 211. It was too cumbersome, too slow, and although nice appointed and a "notch" above trim wise it wasnt as comfy as my own car I felt and not worth the outlay.
