Car is a 2005 C220 W203

Over the last few months I've started noticing that the mpg had dropped, this morning I kept an eye on the temp and it never moved from a fraction over 60 on the motorway.

Does this mean the thermostat has gone?

Mine was doing something similar, even after a run from Portsmouth to Newbury wouldn't get much above 60. When the car went in for other bits and pieces I got them to change it too. Now it comes up to temp (80 deg) in about 2 mins and blows nice and hot from the vents.

If nothing else the heater working properly is a massive improvement :)

Sounds like its gone then, any idea how difficult it is to change?

No idea, I handed it over to PCS in Horndean and made them fix it :)

A thermostat change is one of the easier DIY jobs that actually involve a bit of spanner work. Just be careful of the fuel pipes which may run close by.

Cheap at GSF, ECP, Uniparts etc.
