Audi Insane Crash Save! Final Destination! - YouTube

It reminded me of something that happened to me in the kompressor (which had no traction control) and I completely lost it in a very similar manner in icy-wet weather and i had to avoid on coming traffic... i reacted like this guy did exactly... switched the music off got out of the car, had a breather (in the form of checking my tyres) then carried on driving.

Just thought i'd share it

Yep I had it a couple of years ago on black ice, I was only doing around 20Mph's but I was lucky nothing was coming the otherway. Scary!

it seems to be like the front let go as he was letting off... 4WD specific?

EDIT: On looking at it again i'm not even sure (from the engine note) that he was even letting off... he must've hit something invisible and slippery

Puncture or some mechanical failure? Just wondering why he stopped other than to change his boxers..

53 secs he drives into a massive lake in the road

Why do people film themselves driving? isnt it boring enough on a Motorway anyway?

You mean a shadow??:D

I thought that was a tree shadow - could be wrong though

edit: maybe he thought it was standing water and lifted off

Is it me or did the driver seem to be speeding excessively and going much faster than the vehicles he was overtaking. Lucky is definitely the word. If he had been overtaking someone at that moment, two vehicles would have suffered.

He drives under a motorway warning sign (not readable) that presumably says something about standing water. Guy was driving way too fast, ignored a warning sign and got lucky.
Spectacular save - yes - but marks are deducted for driving like an idiot in the first place.

When I was 17 and a driving god, I was happily minding my own business on the motorway at about 85. Went to pull out past a very slow moving Micra. Had missed a flying Montego in my blind spot.

Had to pull back in and hit the brakes, one wheel of an Escort locked up. Proceeded to do sideways one way then slapped the other until I had it in a straight line, could take off brakes and start again. Down to Micra speed (30mph!) within a foot of his bumper.

Took a while to calm down. Discovered tyre pressures were way too high which contributed...

Definitely just shadow from the trees, there is no water. He just lost the back end due to going too fast.

I've had a few moments like this over the years, one notable one was hitting Ice entering Scratchwood services about 6:00am. It's years since I've pulled in there, but you rise up over the motorway to the other side. On the bend of the bridge was where the ice was

Idiot or not, he recovered well. Takes off at a fair pace afterwards, too

I bet he sh*t his pants! at 1.35 I'm sure he mutters something like "summit stinks"

:)

Shame Borys wasn't there, He could have stopped and checked the tyre brands.

Nah, Borys only does tyres..in the cold and rain, at night...
