just done a in depth scan of my family computer and a warning saying in log threat that i have a threat which is saying it is:mad: application win32/toolbar.mywebsearch.......does any body know if this a worry that i need to get sorted any help welcomed regards jon ....ps my lab top is fine:)

I'm not at my own PC and cannot for the life of me remember what I use for these things. A quick google suggested Rogue Remover Pro, but I can't vouch for it.

Just download and run Spybot S&D or Adaware. They are free and very effective.

I think my mywebsearch has a uninstaller - look in add/remove programmes (also look for smiley central and uninstall that - often comes with it, normally downloaded by kids).

From what I remember mywebsearch is not that unfriendly.

That's the chaps! I run both just to be sure I catch everything. Oh, and I second the AVG advice, been using it for a couple of years with not one infection.

advertisment software and malicious software.
Made to distract you to websites and pop ups offering you goods/trashy porn for sale and hiding keystoke loggers sometimes

Does what it says on the tin :p , logs your keystrokes as you happilly log into your bank account, credit card account or whatever, than sends said details to some criminal type who will empty your bank account, or clone your id or somesuch.

Don't panic, that's not what you have! Just found this, bit late as you've probably got rid by now, but...

How Do I Remove My Web Search?

First, uninstall the My Web Search option from Add/Remove Programs

1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel

2) Double click on Add/Remove Programs

3) Find "My Web Search" in the list of installed programs and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it. You may also want to uninstall any of the following items associated with FunWebProducts.
My Web Search (Smiley Central or FWP product as applicable)
My Way Speedbar (Smiley Central or other FWP as applicable)
My Way Speedbar (AOL and Yahoo Messengers) (beta users only)
My Way Speedbar (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)
Search Assistant - My Way

4) Reboot your Computer and run HijackThis

5) With HijackThis, scan for and fix any of the entries shown above that may be remaining.

6) Next, open My Computer, Drive C, and double-click on the Program Files folder

7) Right-click and delete the folders for:

FunWebProducts

MyWebSearch

8) MyWebSearch should now be completely uninstalled from your computer.

9) There will be some minor registry entries left behind by the uninstall, however these can be cleaned up by running SpyBot Search and Destroy or Ad-Aware SE or left alone.

I've not quoted the tech babble, the rest is here, http://www.pchell.com/support/mywebsearch.shtml
