Mercedes Benz are reintroducing their long mileage award scheme in the USA
Will it be here next?

The Mercedez-Benz Classic High Mileage Award is presented to owners whose vehicles have logged 155,000 miles or more.

Each award includes a traditional Star and Laurel badge which can be affixed to the radiator grille of your Mercedes, as well as a handsome display certificate and formal presentation folder.

The Badge has a picture of a three wheeled motor car, Belived to be the first petrol driven car ever made.

tee hee - we've been down that road - it exists here in Europe, I've even got the part numbers for the awards direct from Maastricht but the dealers can't order them because they don't appear on the computers.

I've posted them on here before but if you want them I can dig them out again

Did you ever go as far as attempting to order via HQ at MK or direct from a European dealer?

Although it's probably a sign that UK dealers think you dont stand a chance of reaching 150K miles on a modern model as it will either breakdown, or rust away.

i hit 155K a while ago - and tried (unsuccessfully) to get the high mileage award - even emailing MB uSA..

the most positive reponse was from maastrict (or wherever the telephone answering department is) who knew of the award - most UK dealers looked at me blankly.

Graham, we tried virtually every "angle" Despite being given the part numbers in a fax from Maastricht they all failed

1, we can't order the parts direct as it needs to be done by the dealers - the dealers can't order the parts because the numbers don't appear on their computers.

2, Milton Keynes are about as much help as a chocolate teapot and referred us back to the dealers saying they can't order the awards as we need to speak to the dealer principle because they should know all about these awards. The dealer principle (who as it turns out is ultra helpful and does in fact know all about these awards) refers us to the service department who also know all about these awards who then say "you have to talk to the parts guys to order them"

3, see point 1

I gave up chasing round in circles

Ok, now I always wondered why someone at MB decided to limit the speed of their cars to 155mph.... now I read theres a high mile award at 155,000miles?!! What is it about the number 155 that MB like so much??

Probably equates to a round number of KM. Either that or it's the amount of seconds before your car starts to rust from new.

155,000 miles = 250,000 Kms (well its actually 155,342.75 miles... but im not counting)

theres anotehr one for 500, 000 Kms and 1,000,000...
