I went to the Kermadec Islands on the Google Earth today, and saw a whale swimming in the ocean off the NW Coast of the The Mayers - some rocky little islands NE of Raoul Island.

For those that are interested of course..........:):)

I thought it was a boat so I zoomed in.....

There are some really nice pictures of breaching whales closer to Raoul Island too.

I did actually find it, but my cut and paste skills need updating.

Sorry.

But links are good, I failed to find the other whales mentioned.

They are only pictures (not a Google View so to speak), they are pinned to Raoul Island in amongst other pictures of Raoul. Incidentally they recently had a very large earthquake here, some Magnitude 7.X, I think.

The Kermadec Trench is also a great fishing ground, very very deep water on account of the major fault line.......

Is it me of is that whale spouting off, looks like it picked the trough between waves to do it - makes sense if you're a whale??

We are finding here in NZL that whales are migrating through The Cook Straight now, something that hasn't been common for many many years. Finally the Whales are making a return, I'd like to see one up close!!
