I wouldnt bother , its a badge. It only costs about £15. Its designed to be easy to steal. If you make it hard and glue it in your only going to end up with two big footprints next to the badge with someone trying to pull it out and maybe ripping the metal out round about it .

So , £15 is a bargain as far as im concerned.

True it may only be £15 a time, but if it happens regularly, then you are going to be seriously out of pocket! I for one would rather spend £15 on something else!

Never had the badge stolen on my CLK but I've had all 4 of my metal hubcaps stolen off my old W116 and the hood badge.

Ive also tried filing down a star to make it sharp eg, cutting the fingers of the nob-end nicking it.

Doesnt work, it simply causes it to splinter.

I'm sure with the billion dollar development budget MB has they could easily design a retractable or at least removable bonnet emblem. :bannana: :bannana:
Since its [a] such a prevalent problem and most owners adore their bonnet badge- an integral part of the ownership experience
You would think the company who gave us self closing doors and seatbelt presenters etc etc could manage to "knock something together" heres a picture of the old pneumatically operated one.
