Hi all

A few days ago , my car (w208 430) had a mad five minutes in the middle of the night.

The hazards started flashing at double speed while it was parked up , no one near it , alarm wasn't going off.

It just did it again now. Stops itself after a little while. If you didn't see it doing it , you'd never know in the morning.

Any ideas what rapid flashing hazards mean ?

I've cleaned the sensors on the B pillars in case there was anything on them that might upset the alarm.

All advice gratefully received.

Ah , is that it ?

Are they replaceable or is it new siren time ?

Get a star test done. The siren is the most likely culprit yes but motion sensors/ towing sensors etc can also fail
But the siren is a likely culprit. They are around 80 plus the vat

Just had a thought.

My little girl loves playing in the car while we are in the garden , she climbs in and I leave the door open and she pretends to drive / presses all the buttons on the dash !

She did this today about an hour before the hazards went potty.

I wonder if she has pressed the button that switches off the tow alarm / sensors ?

How would I tell ? Just been out to the car and there is a little red led in the button , I can't get it to light up regardless of which way I press the button.

I'd check that the PSE pump under the rear seat isn't full of moisture. The circuit board becomes oxidised and send all sorts of thing potty.

You need a new siren if the car has the original factory fitted siren, the car is probably 11 years old and the siren is at the end of its life.

You would need the ignition key to disable the tow away or motion sensors.

The red light flashes every second to show the alarm is armed.

Ah , that's cool then. The light flashes when armed :thumb:

I'll get it on a star soon and see what the score is.
