Guys, i need your advice.

i have just downloaded my files from my partners new cam, and the video files are in .MTS format. This is an HD video format, but i cant view it on my PC.

Any pointers on how to convert it to a usable format that retains the HD characteristics from the VID..

any pointers appreciated!

Vista does not support it I think. I have used Pinnacle Studio in the past which will deal with this format natively.

Alternatively it's your excuse to upgrade to Windows 7!

What camera is it? My Panasonic records in MTS format and it loads into Adobe Premiere Elements fine, but just to view it in Windows 7 I rename the extension AVI and Windows Media Player will play it. Looks like it uses one of the DiVX codecs so make sure you have the latest version installed.

Just download VLC player and you wont have to convert them.

VLC is free and plays most things you can throw at it.

They are actually AVCHD files.
