Anybody how much a headgasket job on the ML would be at a indi.

I have sludge in the expansion tank, but not in oil and the car drives fine.
Recently had the inlet mainfold replaced at the indi so not looking for another big bill just yet.

Could it be anything other than headgasket. as it was fine before the inlet job, could anything have been disturbed or the fluid contaminated.

I can't get it over for them to have a look at until the weekend.

I would expect a bill of £800 or so depending if the head is ok. O a "sniffer" test first. Are the coolant pipes very hard? Is it over heating?

I would get them to check the manifold to be sure.

    Hi, Black55.

Is there anything I could look for around the manifold job that would cause this.

There is no water in the oil.

It's a diesel so there won't be, just lost of compression gasses in the water.
