Guys,

Had my 2013 E220 sport for a week and have noticed that the front headlamp casings are misting up quite badly in the bad weather (condensation inside). I've never had this on any other car - is this a common problem? Still under warranty so may take it in to be looked at.

Cheers

Not an issue. Simply drive around with headlights on and the heat from the bulb will evaporate the mist……..I notice this is now the procedure shown in the SL's handbook but have been doing this as required for years now.

I have been having the same problem with my 2013 E Coupe so I drilled a coupe of vent holes in each headlamp backing 5 weeks ago and they have not misted up once since. :bannana:

What GVM says is true. There is an article about it, though it's in the digital handbook unfortunately and not the paper one. At least on mine and I'm not going out to check the digital one today as I seem to have developed a serious illness (Man Flu) so need a lot of looking after. :D

Here's a snippet from an American manual which I acquired: -

Headlamps fogged up on the inside: -

The headlamps may fog up on the inside if there is high atmospheric humidity.
Switch on the light and drive off.
The level of moisture diminishes, depending on the length of the journey and the weather conditions (humidity and temperature).

Not considered a fault on a C Class.

Same thing happened on my friend's C250 CDI . Mercedes replaced the headlights under warranty after photos were sent to MB. The headlights are the ones that change direction with the steering wheel -not sure what they are called but no doubt more expensive than standard ones.

Interesting as WIS clearly states fogged headlamps are not considered a fault and directs the dealership to explain to the customer pretty much what gvm and daveenty have posted.

All covered in earlier postings :p
