W211, post-facelift: should the headlamp switch symbols (<P, P>, 0, auto, side, dip) be illuminated? Mine aren't, which seems like an odd omission in such a well-equipped car.

Well. If it's like the 203 then the screws are behind the handbrake release. I believe that they are torx screws. FYI. On the 203 not all the switches are illuminated. There are other posts on this in the forum. On my C55 the switch is not illuminated and has no way of being illuminated.

On our CLK and SLK the switch is not illuminated. I would want to be very certain that it should be before pulling anything apart.

on the w211 the switch is NOT illuminated as it would reflect on the window near the side mirror.
