Could anyone tell me where the headlight control module is situated on a 2005 ML 270cdi? Are there additional sensors that could cause the lights to shine too high when driving and yet be perfectly ok when tested and adjusted when stationary.
The car has xenon headlights and I am continually dazzling everyone.
Just passed the MOT and the headlights were and are adjusted correctly.

When I scan for any faults I get a fault code saying excess voltage at headlight adjustment.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

It is the part at the top on the right in your photo. I am looking for the location of that part .
Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Have you had any suspension work done recently? What code reader did you use?
When in motion the auto=levelling is constantly adjusting the headlamps, using feedback from sensors on the front and rear suspension. It is possible one or both of these have become damaged, loose or over-centred.
A session on STAR would be recommended before disassembly of the headlamp. STAR is used to set the zero position for the auto-levelling and will also interrogate the headlamps systems in general, to a far greater extent than generic code readers
