So I found a great detailing place right next door to work that specialises in ceramic coating. I got them to restore my headlights which included the ceramic coating for scratch and UV protection and I think the results are fantastic! What do you guys think?

Fantastic, what a lovely job they have made.
Did they do that without removing the lights?
I'm needing this done on my Lotus as the lacquer is breaking down.

All done with wet sanding and finished in ceramic coating. They said they use many more grades of sandpaper than a DIY job to get it so clear.
£30 per light so more expensive than DIY kit but a) the result is brilliant and b) I didn't have to do it myself!

Did they do it without dismantling the headlights?
They didn't dismantle the lights, all done by polishing and the ceramic coat to add extra gloss and protection. I'm very impressed with their work!

I don't have a good before picture but the car is from 2004 and the lights were yellowing and a bit cloudy before. You can kind of see it in my avatar picture.

Having spent an hour doing one of my lights today with the 3M kit, admittedly slower than intended due to allowing both my drill batteries to run low without realising, I wish I wasn't at the other end of the country, lol. They have done a fantastic job.

What grade did they start with ?

Fantastic job. This is why its usually better and probably cheaper to pay someone who knows what they're doing, rather than attempt it yourself.

That looks excellent, I’ve used the Autoglym kit before and that was pretty good. Lasted about 18 months before I had to do it again. Retails at £27 now so to get yours done professionally, that’s an excellent price when the only work you’ve done is hand over the cash.

Done a few sets of lights over the years for myself and mates, I use 1200 wet and dry, but wet until all smooth and consistent, then move on up through stages till 2500 all wet, never dry. then machine polish with cutting compound till like new, add a decent wax and done.
If lights just starting to fog, you might get away with just a machine polisher and compound, you can get some nice cordless polishers not with heads about 2". Ones I sand down have been yellow and appear cracked ect.

I'll take your restored headlights and raise you xenons!!! ;)
