Just had the free health check at MB Ashford on my 2001 C270CDI estate (first MB, love it!!). They had a few comments that I'm not sure about as I'm not "oily handed".

First, they said my brake fluid is black. It was changed on 10/5/2006 and 45848 miles - currently 70500 miles, have only done 3K since we got the car 9/10/2008. Should I get the fluid changed immediately or wait for the next service - which on current useage could be 12+ months away.

Second, they reported front wheel bearing play "which can be adjusted" - is this a biggie?

Third, "Rear flexis slightly perished" ??

Fourth, Differential seals leaking.

Fifth - "Oil leak around turbo area".

As virtually everyone taking the time to read this will have more knowledge of MB and matters oily than I do, I would appreciate your thoughts about how concerned I should be (the car is our DD, transporting beloved wife (AKA SWMBO!!)) and which of these need action.

Many thanks

Chris

change the brake fluid as soon as possible - I always reckon that two years is as long as it lasts. Get a local independent (therefore a lot less expensive) to check it's water content (brake fluid is hygroscopic - it absorbs water) and if neccessary replace it.

If it's goes black again, you need to get the seals checked

I would do a bit of research into finding a good honest indy near you.
Then ask them if these items need addressing.

I was once told by an MB dealership that a whole load of stuff needed doing on my old W208. Took it to indy and was told that they will gladly do all the stuff on the list and take my money, but realistically, only ten percent of the list needed doing (and even that wasn't urgent).

So basically, if you can, get a second opinion.

I have the same car and I've been told there's oil on the turbo. Changed the oil breather as a precaution and nothing has gone wrong *touch wood* since.

Give Steve a call 07710 106120 or text him if he does not answer.. Highly recommended, i think he is not to far from Ashford.
