Folks,

Brace yourselves - Petrol could be up to £1.50 per litre by the end of the year. Thats coming from many sources.

Imagine being mugged on the streets for the petrol in your tank :eek::eek::eek:

I am lucky in that I had fun in the 50's onwards,, the only comsulation for me is that you eat less when you get older, I do feel sorry for new families with children, things are getting hard

No different to being mugged every day in the wallet:(

Our car petrol is still a tiny fraction of the cost. think of the cumulative effect/
Van deliveries will go up, builders will go up, add haulage, and then bus fares + cost of delivering food to the markets and any firm that uses transport to work will have its prices go up too.

Yup. Or it might not be. Speculation :)

Thats why its the governments duty, to its citizens to do what it can to keep the cost of fuel down, i.e. cut down the tax on it so its price stays constant. This will keep inflation also at bay, something the government is very worried about. Its got a lot of room with fuel duty to cut this back.

What is it at the moment? 60-70p tax/duty already?

Its the goverments fault.

I've heard that house prices could be half of what they are now, and I've heard that income tax could be 20% higher than it is now, and I've heard that I could be 10lbs fatter than I am now.

This is why food prices are going up, not just biofuel but also the cost of oil based fuel going up. We could be set for very fast inflation if the government doesn't ease up.

trouble is, Government needs the money from fuel tax/duty to fund the bureaucracies it has created.

The UK's public debt is already too high (we wouldn't qualify for joining the Euro for example), so Mr Brown/Darling cannot borrow more, since UK plc's credit cards/loans etc are already MMAAXXEEDD OUT

I've heard you thank everyone twice...........:D

Hi,

I thought the duty of this Government was to squeeze out as much tax revenue as possible to either waste (relatively speaking) or pay for more surveillance equipment etc....and the increased revenue (from increased fuel prices) will be used to support those who lose their jobs because of the increase in fuel prices etc....perfect...NOT

The fact that our global competitiveness decreases and our standard of living drops doesn't seem to be an issue...but we have been here before and whilst fuel prices will (probably) remain (relatively) high once/if the dollar starts to increase it's (relative) value prices should stabilise/reduce.

Cheers,

Thats because since 1997 we have had a very wasteful, incompetant and inprudent chancellor.

We can't borrow more, but cutting back on public spending would be a start.

Getting Political again lads.
