Hey,
So since I got my vito the heater hasn't worked! I was determined to fix it so after googling what I could do today I got my hands dirty.

I took the heater out, which was a bit of a pain, and used a voltmeter to check the voltage on it's live connection which it did.
Then I took the motor and connected it direct to the battery to see if it worked..it did. Then I refit it scratching my head and tried it again and it worked!

A little later I went to the supermarket and it worked.

Then tonight I drove my partner to work and it didn't work.

Something the internet suggested testing was the resistor, but I couldn't find that! I traced the power from the van until it disappeared up into the dash where I couldn't follow it anymore. Maybe it's behind the control unit? I will check that tomorrow when I have light again.

Anything else you can suggest checking?

The van is a 98 plate, bare on the luxuries. First thing I thought I'd check was fuses, turns out I don't have many or even the wiring behind the box for more so I can't see that being the problem now. The AC red led comes on at least..

Sounds like the regulator, which looks like a large aluminium heat sink built into the fan motor, but can be changed out.

is it under the casing? I took the heater out today and put it on the battery... still runs fine.

multi the power cable going into the heater and still getting 12.5v.

can I test the neutral on the plug?
