Heater control lights problem

At night when i switch on the headlights, the lights on the right side of the heater controls are not lighting up. Have taken out the little bulb and replaced it and still nothing

Its this thing i am talking about


The dial on left with numbers lights up fine, its right one for position and the scrollling thing that arent lighting up

My guess is the bulb isn't inserted correctly (it is a bit of a faff) or the new bulb is faulty.

Will try again. The bulbs are a pain to take out, whats the best way or tool for doing so please
 
A straw or a small piece of rubber tube.
 
I Can’t really advise on what’s the best tool as I used a needle nose pliers, in the course of all the fiddling, trying to remove the bulb I broke the solder connection on the circuit board, the bulb sits in a little box or pot, which is soldered to the PCB, pictured below. If you can’t get the bulb to illuminate then this might be the problem.
