Hello chaps,

I have an E230 Elagance estate, 1997, the heater fan does not work, I have checked the fuse but not sure what else to look at, any idea's?

Possibly worn motor brushes.
A search for heater +brushes will give lots of info.

is the blower motor easy to replace?

yes quite easy, look under how to section, you'll find a post related to a W202 removal, it's the same for your W210:bannana:

I've managed to get at least 2 more years out of my blower motor by stretching the springs behind the brushes, a zero-cost option! :D

Thanks for the advice, once it stops raining i will get out their with my screwdrivers!

Raining? If you use my technique of sitting upside down on the passenger seat, head in the footwell, back on the seat base, legs over the top of the seat, either side of the head restraint you can take out the blower motor in any weather! ;)

Tip: the motor is heavy, when you take the last screw out please support it because it will fall and if your face is there you'll regret it. Also loads of dust and dirt falls out of the motor, including presumably carbon desposits so just basically watch yourself eh? ;)
