Hello All - Bad day on Saturday!

Hi.

Am open to offers on the above car. Feel free to make an offer. The worst that can happen is ill decline it!!

Cheers.

Tim

Sorry to hear of your crap and somewhat slightly scary experience - that really sucks ! Hope you get it sorted as cheaply and easily as possible

Thanks for the lead.Much appreciated.
Looks a nice car that's been looked after, so can understand your asking price. Unfortunately, the cost of a fully reconditioned engine is slightly lower so I would have to decline.
It would also be a shame to take the engine out, so hope that someone buys it who can give it the love it deserves.

Yes, it is Timster's car in case you weren't aware.

I thought rather than mess around with what you have it might be better to buy a looked-after car instead...

I am a cynical get and so I suspect even with a recon engines, that won't be the last of your bad luck with it!

You would also be able to sell what is left of what you have to negate some of the cost.

Just a thought.

Why not go for a special project that's bound to be plain sailing to install and ultra reliable for evermore?
Fit a 320cdi OM613 lump, that I just happen to have for £200 ;-)

Okay, interesting. Please note that I am a novice MB owner. I reckoned that as I don't own my oil well, a 320 might just be a tad expensive to run? Is this not the case?

Thanks. That is a very sensible suggestion. My only concern was that (with my luck with bodywork) an estate would be even more interesting to park than a saloon. I don't know why i tend to end up visiting places with the smallest turning circles/parking spaces on the planet, but that has been my recent experience.
I also work in the film industry (where an estate would be bonus!) but I simply don't have the time to arrange flogging the one/parts of that I already have. Open to suggestions.

You could do worse than advertise your existing car on here / autotrader / gumtree / eBay / pistonheads , making it clear that the car is a non runner and has to be taken away in one piece , but you are open to sensible offers for it as a project / spares car .

That would leave you free to then buy another car .

Oh , incidentally , I work in photography/video production and well know that it doesn't matter which estate car you have , it is never big enough .

All the same , an E Class is a vastly much better load carrier than a C Class - much more load space plus self levelling suspension which allows you to carry more weight .

W124's are fantastic , but getting on now and you tend to either find cheap ones that need work or really nice ones , at a cost .

The W210 series which followed are very good load carriers , many had rust issues so check carefully , but there are bargains to be had .

You might pick up a bargain , high mileage W211 , but they can have issues of their own , particularly the SBC brake system on early ones .

All worth consideration though .
