Just to say hello to everyone, recently picked up a clk55 amg (with fsh)had trouble free motoring for about week and a half until the gearbox decided to go into limp/saftey mode :(. Took it to an independent garage who were kind enough to take it for a test run, there and than and diagnose it as an electical (ECU) issue "needed to clear down faults that were on the ECU", and hey presto i have a healthy car again :D. Got to say apart from that scare i'm loving the power/ torque these cars have, so here's to trouble free motoring(touching wood) and decent weather this summer.

Well done.

I had a e55 amg, and the gearbox packed in, luckily i still had 2 months warranty left, so that sorted out the bill.. Had to get one shipped over from Germany etc.. prob cost alot of money, but one thing i do not undestand is if under warranty, they replace a part with a brand new part, and say the part fails, its cover expires when the original warranty expires, not 12 months or 3 years or what ever it is..

SURELY THIS IS NOT CORRECT?

Mercedes on this aspect of their warranty service are totally pathetic..

but good news on yours mate

Welcome to the forum.lovely car you`ve got

Thank you guys for your welcome. I count myself very lucky with getting the gearbox sorted with without too much trouble and expense. I do find the whole warranty thing a bit confusing in the respect you have pointed out "The Boss". I think somtimes car companies need to use a bit more common sense when it comes to certain situations(like yours). But I suppose at the end of the day it's another way of making money out of MB owners.
