Hi everyone, my name is Lawrence. I'm from NZ origionally but been here for 15 years & married with kids now (stole one of your English Roses!)
Served an apprenticeship with & worked for MB main dealers until about the year 2000, so a bit out of the loop now to say the least! Just bought my 1st benz about 2 weeks ago - a w210 E320 elegance estate, year 2000/2001 (1st reg early Jan 2001 so must have been built sometime in 2000?). Anyway, very glad to finally own one - especially a T-wagon, as I rememebr one of the Trademen who taught me said if I ever get the chance to get one I should do so - and we were working on a w123 T-wagon at the time so really pleased to get one made in this century too! Chuffed to get a 7-seater model - in not bad nick too - doesn't need much to whip it back into shape as far as I found so far. Really pleased to get the car & also to have found this club & it's forum - been really helpful already. Thanks! :thumb:

Good day and welcome.

Whereabouts in NZ you from ?

Hello Lawrence Welcome to the forum, and may I say a great choice of car. Enjoy! :D

Hello. :)

Hello Lawrence
Welcome to the Forum :thumb:

Thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome in such a great forum ! :)

Welcome. Check those W210 front spring perches and subframe cross member for corrosion damage.
Thanks! Yes I will! I just read on the forum somewhere yesterday actually about inserting 5 mm spacers between the undertray & where it attaches to the vehicle to let the water out to minimise this happenning - does that sound right?
I'll take the undertray right off & check the cross member thouroghly & I'm also going to check the spring perches out when I'm replacing the fornt springs in the very near future. Thanks :) It's in pretty good nick this one so want to keep ontop of any rust as it pocks it's ugly head through. I've already arranged for a good panelbeater I know to take out the little bits here & there properly & I even picked up a new genuine MB wing this week to replace the worst looking one. So fingers crossed!
Thanks again for the welcome :)

The spacer trick may well help keep the area dry, as will a liberal coating with waxoil or similar on a yearly basis. Worst comes to the worst MB produce a repair panel. The perches are difficult because the corrosion can occur behind the sealant at the seams. Obviously its there to prevent corrosion so you wouldn't want to remove/damage it unnecessarily. If however there are signs water has penetrated behind the sealant then it might be wise to take a closer look.:dk:

Nice one Graeme :) I'll check & do those thing too.
Much appreciated!
Cheers!
Lawrence
