Hi Everyone thanks for accepting me as a new member, so I have joined the MB world and bought my wife what I believe to be one of the finest ragtops a 2006 CLK Avantgarde. I have bought this car as a bargain basement project for next summer at a give away price as its that time of year, it has done 83,000 miles from new with full service history.
The rear bumper has some slight damage but have bought a replacement for £160 delivered in the 357 colour. The wheels require refurbing but apart from that its in excellent condition.
So I have some questions as a novice on these beasts. I should point out I am fully versed on vehicle electronics (have landrover Disco 3 and full diagnostics) I can rebuild engines with my eyes shut as I restore classic japanese motorcycles and have rebuilt many car engines in the past few decades. I am very willing to learn and contribute if I can so the questions are as follows:-
Many thanks in advance

I should point out I am fully versed on vehicle electronics (have landrover Disco 3 and full diagnostics) I can rebuild engines with my eyes shut as I restore classic japanese motorcycles and have rebuilt many car engines in the past few decades. I am very willing to learn and contribute if I can so the questions are as follows:-
- What is the best budget diagnostics for the CLK that can also diagnose the roof control (I have looked at the Icarsoft MB II)?
- Can I upgrade to a bluetooth interface, if so what are the options?
- Is the balance shaft gear wear inevitable, if so when are the symptoms likely to appear
- is the above a DIY job or does it require a lift
- Where can I source and get a spare key programmed
- Are there any other gremlins I should be aware of and address/look for
Many thanks in advance
