I’ve bought a mercedes approved used car last month and I just found out that in 40000 miles it had only one service done. And the mileage it’s at least 60000 (on a diagnostic tool) I don’t know what to do next.. I’ve called the dealer today and they gonna call me back tomorrow:(

I’m not very keen to own a car with one oil change in over 60k :(

As John said, reject/return the vehicle. Being from an MB dealership is in your favour.

If that's true it will be hugely embarrasing for the dealer with their access to history and servicing records. Refund time.

You should be able to get a refund on that as car not as advertised.

One good reason for buying from a main dealer.
As above.

However, don't be quick to judge based on findings from a 'diagnostic tool'.

Take the car to the dealer and ask them to print-out a report from MB STAR before condemning the car.

The 'diagnostic tool' you have been using might not be reliable.

And, if it is true, then you will get a full refund.

Plus the dealer can print out the car's Digital Service Book (DSB) for you, showing the car's full service history as recorded on MB's central computer.

And last, it is possible (though not very likely) that ASSIST wasn't reset correctly on the car when the services were done.

The 40k to 60k ratio is suspiciously close to miles vs kilometres. Are you sure the “diagnostic tool” you’re using is displaying miles?
My first thought too.

Best checking this first before getting to feisty with the dealer IMHO.

It was tested with STAR by an approved mercedes engineer!
my car it’s on 40000 miles and the test shows 100.000km

I asked for the service history and still waiting.... I’ve got 3 weeks of waiting and nothing!

I bought a 3 year old 58,000 mile , Cavalier 2000GSi many years ago and found it had only been serviced once, but it did have a replacement engine, I wonder why?

based on EU law we can return items bought within 14 days, oh wait! :p

As you well know we have only started the process of leaving the EU, all current EU laws are still UK law during the transition period to December 31st 2020 or do you just enjoy stirring up things?

That is 62,500 miles which is a bit of a pi$$ take by the dealer especially if it should have been serviced prior to collection.

On the occasion that I walked into my local MB dealer and asked for the service history printout, I received it within 10 minutes, and they even put the dealership's stamp on it, all FOC.

So a quick visit to your supplying dealer - or, in fact, any MB dealer - should get this sorted on the spot, just bring with you the new V5C in your name and a photo ID.

Additionally, if you register your car with Mercedes me online, you'll be able to gain access to the car's service history yourself, but you'll need to ask the dealer to generate a SecCode for you first (unless you happen to be in possession of a printout the Digital Service Record from the last service).

I suspect a ‘digital reset’ at some stage.

Problem is, the mileage is recorded in many places - not just the cluster reading.

Reject the car

probably because they didn’t use sintetic oil!
