Hi guys, nice to meet and that is for the add.
On Friday I bought a 2001 C200 estate....couldn't fault it drove a dream for its age in great condotion FSH and looked after by merc main dealers.....have done approx 150 faultless miles since bought it.....went out this morning and it won't start it turns over but just won't catch and the engine won't start....been fine till this morning has plenty of fuel in too 3/4 tank so not that.

I changed the batteries in the fob yesterday at it seems sluggish and needs held against the handle,....would changing the fob batteries cause I obelises issues or the like.

There are no working on the display either it states no malfunctions.

Totally new to mercs and in need of help please guys.

Do you hear an unlocking click when you insert the key into the ignition switch?

If not you may have a failed EIS (electronic ignition switch)

Yeah that all works I took a video clip of it but not sure how to load it onto here.
Engine turns over and now has full tank of petrol it tries to start just doesn't, it has the electronic type key.
When ignition at position 2 I can hear what I assume is a fule pump fuel rail to the right side of the engine behind the MAF and what looks like a silver fuel pump under the car to the rear NS held on with a few cable ties lol.....not sure if it's the issue or not but it might be a fuel problem.

Got a mate to plug in his odbll code reader and it comes up with P0106 and P0107 got some contact cleaner so doing the MAF and MAP sensor tomorrow but also read on here the exhaust has sensors close by and can cause issues if blowing.....mine seems to have been patched with gun gum exhaust paste in places and know it needs replaced but could this actually also cause said issue.

Found something else while looking but as yet not sure what it's called so hard to describe but I took a pic and when unplugged it it sounded better on the right side towards the battery.

When I figure out loading a pic I will

After me taking a while to put some pieces together to remember the codes shown were old stored ones I was confident it was going to be a fuel issue in the end as I thought but dismissed at the start......turns out was the fuel pump and no wonder when you see the somewhat dangerous bodge I feel some one had carried out.

New one ordered and fitted tomorrow along with a new fuel filter as a precaution.

Good news is it's back to running how it should after replacing and fitting the fuel pump sender units as a pair the updated set up nice to have it sorted and drives lovely again.

Shocking bodge done to the old pump though and likely dangerous but bloody stupid none the less.

Anyhow still ended up with a great deal in the end and friend of mine is going to take care of the few blemishes of paint bubbling on the few spots front bumper bottom of door corner top of both rear arches......only really visably in the right light and nothing too serious at all at the mo so once done and interior properly valleted it will be Bob on again.
