W204 C300
Dear all,

Long time reader, first time poster!

I searched the forum already and although it was helpful, I was hoping if someone might have a solve for me directly, as everything that has been suggested I have tried.

I bought a W204 MY2013 C300 with AMG kit, previous owner installed 19" C63 Edition 507 wheels. 255/35/19 on the back, 235/35/19 on the front. On the back there are no real issues, but on the front, the wheels constantly knock into the fenders and are rubbing off the paint on the fender/wheelwell. They only rub if I go over bumps a little too fast inadvertently, but there are enough bumps here in Dubai that it happens pretty often.

Tyre shops here haven't been helpful, suggesting going to standard wheels (but I like these wheels!!!) or raising the height of the car (I think this will kill the stance). I'm confused, because I've seen lots of people on these forums rolling with 19" wheels, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work for me. I have already had the fenders rolled, so I am at a loss! Please help!

You could try having the arches rolled-out. This is entirely dependent on where the wheel is hitting the arch? Have a feel with your hand on the arch. If there is rolled lip there, you may be able to get a good tyre/body shop to roll them out.

Failing that it is either try skinnier tyres or smaller wheels.

C63 has wider front arches, and thus probably wider wheels. It all comes down to the offset of the wheels bs what your car can accommodate.

Thank you ... I am not sure of the offset of the wheels, have been trying to find them online, all I know is that standard they run 255/30/R19 and 235/35/R19, and are 9.0" wide ... But I am running those exact same tyres on the front and it's rubbing every time I go over a bump ...

As you don't have a c63 you can't run the same size tyres without rubbing issues. So 225/35 on the front and 265 30 on the back.

Thank you ... I can understand 225/35 on the front as they are narrower, but isn't 265 wider than 255? Won't that be a problem on the rear (I know that they will be lower profile) - sorry if this is a dumb question ...

This issue is solved by swapping the 19"s you have, to a set of aftermarket c63 wheels... I can't find the thread where I spotted his but a member realised it as they're slightly different

Profile refers to the height of the tyre sidewall and is a percentage of width. As such the tyres I mentioned have almost exactly the same tyre sidewall height.

Thank you everyone - I went to a big tyre shop today, and they think that the issue can be solved by giving the car more clearance with 225/35/19 tyres on the front as some of you have stated. They told me the rear doesn't need to be changed... will keep everyone posted in a few days after I drive over a few bumps to see how we go!
