W211 E270 Cdi 2005
Hello all
New to this club :)

So I bought this really beautiful looking 2005 e270 cdi , not a scratch on it
I always thought it was really maintained and stuff
So the first night when I took it home I noticed it slipped the 4th gear , it struggled to get into it but failed to do so
After a few attempts of switch on and off
It suddenly didn't go above 2nd gear and gave hard jerks when putting into D and R

Got it checked locally and they told me they have to change the clutch pack
I didn't mind getting it done as I had some budget left , spent about 95000 Inr Rupees which is about 940 pounds
They changed the clutch pack , oil pan gasket , the wiring pilot in which the wire goes in and also the electric plate and also cleaned the gearbox inside completely flushing it and the torque converter and the converter did release some debris
They had the car for a week

Got it back and they told me to drive it for a 1000kms
I did and eventually with time the problems all came back

So I was told to get the complete ring set changed
So I agreed
They changed the solenoid rings , oil pump ring and a lot of more o-rings
They thoroughly cleaned the valve body too
And the gearbox again
Changed the fluid and everything

Still ended up with the same issue
Told to change the valve body
I got the valve body changed too

The problem continues for 2days and suddenly without doing anything the gearbox comes to life !!!!! I was really happy
It missed 4th gear a couple of times but it seemed to get better
Like no slipping was present till yesterday

And now all of a sudden what happens is I drive the car and the gears were slipping
Like literally all of them
As if on a manual clutch where you accelerate and the rpm goes high but not the speed of the car while in gear

I got a burning smell
No first gear anymore and reverse

Didn't know what to do

They opened the gearbox and saw a certain clutch pack was burnt

They come up and say that they have to change the torque converter and the clutch pack again
I can't keep playing around
I really want to get this beautiful baby back on the road

They offered me a torque converter which seemed to be used on a w210 which had a drain plug
My torque converter does not have a drain plug

Can I use the torque converter with a drain plug?
Also they say they will change the electric plate again because it's bolt to the wiring pilot thing got loose and broke free

Oh and I have the valeo radiator but it doesn't seem to be leaking but I will add the oil cooler still but don't know which one to use and how to go on about changing the housing pipes

Please help me

Looks like they are having a game of trial and error at your expense! Has it been on any kind of diagnostic machine?

With regards to the torque converter (and a rule for any part really) replace with like for like part numbers

The only diagnostic machine they have been using is the scanner
I made sure they used Star scanner /Das scanner

The codes that came up were incorrect gear ratio and input/turbine
The codes were p0715 and p0730
This was on a basic obd scanner but on the star scanner they had different codes

They also used the scar for deleting the old setting and updating the adaption settings

No luck yet :(

No chance I can use torque converter with drain plug?

Some pictures of the gearbox with the particular drum in which the clutch pack has burnt
