help my 1995 c class is not holding its revs on idle there is a spring on the throttle that has snapped i think this is the cause but also it is underpowering and taking along time to rev through the gears could this spring be the problem as it seams asif the engine is underfueling too

i had to get home so i quick fixed this with an elastic band the with the band it idled fine in park but when put into drive or reverse it struggles to rev and is really slow on the pickup.

i think this little spring is causing all these problems but i dont know

any help will be appericated

Get the spring replaced first and go from there.

Let us know the outcome.

The spring is only the return to idle spring. The other problem sounds more like underfuelling, probaly MAF sensor.

its gone into merc today to have the engine code read and i will go from there its really weird i picked the car up from the seller got 50 miles down the road and the car wouldnt start again or atleast it would but as soon as i let go of the key the engine dies. hopefully its nothing too serious.

could it be a problem with the fusebox as i had to fix one of the wires as the indicators were not working?

got the diagnosis from merc the coil pack is nackared (well the engine is not fireing on 2 cylinders) and i got it to my local garrage and then it wouldnt fire at all after i booked it in.

merc wanted me to buy a new ECU for £1300+vat
i told them where to stick it in a very very nice way though seeing as they did the diagnosis completely free of charge for me.

car is in the garrage now being fixed should have it by friday hopefully.
