Hi there my friend has a few problems with his car, it is a 2002 C220 cdi.

It has had a recon fuel jet (air flow meter/ or the diesel equivalent) and since then the MPG has suffered.
Previous, around town was 39mpg now 29-31mpg.
Motorway 49-51mpg now 39ish.

He said is it worth having it re-mapped? Would this help?

Another problem is the radio has stopped working, it keeps making a slight clicking noise every minute or so, but wont light up and work.
Is there a fuse in the back of these?

Finally the button to open the boot doesn't work, it makes a noise like it is working, but doesn't open.
Could this be the opening mechanism and any ideas hiow much they are?

Last but not least, how much would a set of front discs and pads be for this car?

Would getting it on star diagnostics help?

Thanks as always for any replies, I always appreciate your help on here.
All the best Kurt

He's had it for a few years with no problems, now it's just these niggly little bits need sorting.

Re the mpg, does the engine get hot? It should be 80c+, if it doesn't get past 60c, suspect thermostat

Cheers, I will ask him.
Would the thermostat affect the mpg?
Thanks Kurt

In a word, yes!

A second hand/recon MAF is probably not the best idea either.

Best way is to get the car on STAR first to see if the MAF is working correctly.

those mpg figures are what i get in my C220 CDI all the time! its been looked at by merc 3 times to no avail and they say its normal. ha :wallbash:

Cheers for the replies, any ideas on the radio?
