Hi just wondering if anyone more up to speed with current head unit's can help me find the one I'm looking for, it needs to be double din with built in sat nav, bluetooth, DAB, dvd and rear parking camera. I don't want chinese as I still believe they are unreliable, cheap looking and software is not a mark on named brands. :thumb:

It's for a 2003 E320 CDI Estate incase that helps :)

I am also in the very early stages of looking (not even browsed the shelves of Halfrauds yet). My current unit has a friggin tape player in it!! Seriously. 2003 car.

Was thinking either replacing with comand unit, or getting a classy looking double DIN. Something that doesn't look out of place in a wood dash in a beautiful car.

I'd recommend th Alpine Ine-W925 ...cracking piece of kit!

Thanks ash. Just had a look and it does look pretty nice. Bit pricey, but way more functionality than the Comand unit for around the same money.

The Pioneer Avic F950 bt/dab is the next best option mate ..bit cheaper too , but with all the goodies .

I had the F900 and that was great for it's time. Good to see the prices have come down a fair bit now as well.

W925r is what I went for, very good head unit, and subtle looks.

DAB, Bluetooth (you can have someone else stream music while your phone is hooked up for calls) Nav, ipod, android and decent sound.

Decent EQ and crossovers, and excellent time alignment.

Also, really nice brushed metal finish and quality touches like ambient light sensor so the screen dims as the cabin gets dark, the Pioneer I had before drove me nuts with this, delving into menus to dim it as it was never right.

I just posted this in the W163 thread asking, but gives you an idea....

That really does look nice. I just found a brand claiming to make units that imitate the look of the original manufacturer. Eonon. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/310917769262?nav=SEARCH To be honest, looks really good and ticks a lot of the boxes for what I was looking for. Anybody got any experiences of these units?

Forget it. Just read some reviews from people who bought one. Not good

The Chinese units are awful imho.

Horrid graphics and clunky UI. Then there is the sound, not great.

If you get an Alpine unit supplied and installed by a Alpine Excellent Partner (such as Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk guys :) then you get a 2 year warranty.

Very clever move by Alpine - helps their installer network compete with the on-line discounters and their units are so reliable I doubt it actually costs them anything noticable.
