Had a no start on Boxing Day, traced the issue to the wiring plug on the RH fuel module, no signs of fuel leak, but evidence of browning on the pins of the module lid. I re-seated the plug on the connector, that got the car going and I later replaced the pins in the wiring connector when I got home thinking it was all good.
Fast forward some months and I noticed a smell of fuel on Friday and pulled the service hatch on the RH of the tanks to see fuel pooling ontop of the module. The connector was wet with fuel and the seals had popped on the back of the connector.
Doing some research the last few days, this appears to be a well known issue particuarly in the US. But where the situation with my car differs is that I have evidence of it having happened before. I think the car has an original LH module (with a new Febi filter), then a replacement lid on the RH side (response to the leak last time) with a pair of walbro 440 pumps fitted 15k miles ago (I assume the rest of the module guts are original). There is more to this in the history of the car around the topic which is probably too much to go into here, but I would like to return it to reliability and address the issue as completly as possible.
My understanding of this problem is that excess current draw melts the pins on the cover and the surrounding plastic causing the leak - This is down to the filters being blocked or the pumps failing due to age, or running low on fuel, a relay issue or degraded wiring causing high resistance. I want to wholesale replace the modules and necessary harness and do whatever else might be necessary so that this doesn't reoccur.
I see that FCP euro sell a kit which includes everything under P/N: A 21 147 000 00, however I would like to buy from GB seller in case I have issues and to save shipping time - Not to mention their kit is likely £1500 landed and there is a core return. When it comes main dealers I have read reports of people getting the wrong pump, sender not getting the harness which would then cause one of the pumps to run backwards.... This running backwards element might still be a problem with my car as I have the new lid with the old harness.... , and maybe the Walbro pumps masks it, I just don't know - I would like to remove that uncertainty!
TL;DR: RH Fuel pump module is leaking from the wiring connector, need help

- Can anyone recommend a dealer who understands the issue enough to send the correct parts? Unfortunately my preferred dealer closed a little while ago and I'm not sure where to go with this.
- Can anyone confirm whether I have the original LH module? 8.18 is on the lid which could well be week 8, 2018 - So maybe it is the new one.
- Anyone else have experience with this? It would be really appreciated.
