Fleet Manager of C350e
Good afternoon all,

I run a fleet of C350es. Not for the environment but for the tax implications for both employee and employer.

I have a very good relationship with the salesman who I ordered them through originally but I had one of the guys call up and say that he had a crack and needed a replacement.

My indie windscreen guy suggested that we buy the screen direct from MB and get him to install at a dealer so that it could all be calibrated. Ordered the screen, took the car to the dealer on the day it was due to be fitted but what I wasn't told was that the screen was on back order. Apparently there are 35 on back order, with no date available to give me one getting into stock.

I was wondering if any of you guys had any thoughts or suggestions regarding this. It feels like these screens are rarer than unicorn muck.

TIA

You can get Autoglass or Auto windscreens to replace them and also do the calibration. They can only do them at a limited number of branches though due to the calibration required. For info Mercedes don't replace the windscreens themselves, they get a 'specialist' in to replace it, then Mercedes do the calibration....how do I know this, my S class went in yesterday for a replacement windscreen and the 'specialist' cracked the new one too! Going back in on Tuesday for another MB and 'specialist' now arguing over who is to blame!

Sounds like a fun job for you to sort out the HorseandJockey.

I know the MB garage don't do it, I actually use the same guys MB use to change windscreens here in East Anglia. He was just doing it for me at the MB garage so it was ready for calibration and in the right place.

Being in darkest East Anglia and the car now being in the West Country I bet we aren't near a calibration centre!!
