Hello all,

This is my first post, i just bought myself a W220 to replace my IS200, and really got myself into trouble.

Didn't take an electrician to check the computers, when buying it was suppoosed to be just a accelerator pedal that needed replacing.

But when I took the car to the garage and got it connected to a computer, it showed so many problems, started looking at the computers and ESP seems like the box has been tampered with and Engine Control Unit (the computer at the far left if your looking straight at the bonnet) doesnt even have the casing so i dont know the number for the module, the evil people just droped the ECU without the casing inside. Messed with the wires got some wires soldered onto the circuit.

So the Engine control unit needs replacing as its throwing internal fault on the diagnostics computer, and it doesnt even have the casing. But i been trying to look for the module number and it seems like the "engine control unit" for my VIN number has 6 possible units:

My VIN Number is:
WDB2200262A248110

Posibilities:
A 170 545 12 40
A 170 545 12 40
A 024 545 33 32
A 613 153 01 79
A 613 153 02 79
A 613 153 03 79 (i have found this one to buy already)

There is a number on the ESP box which is:
A 031 545 09 32

If someone could help me on where i could find the numbers for the ECU i would greatly appreciate it, because i am loosing will to live with this purchase, one lesson like this teaches people how to buy cars in the future

Thank you

Oh dear oh dear.

I Feel for you.

The lesson learned is not to believe sellers who say "it only needs......" - if it were true then you'd do it to sell the car wouldnt you?

Hopefully one of our esteemed experts will be along to help you shortly, in the meantime, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome, and yeah all i can hope for now is trhat i sort out the numbers for this car :) couz buying a new comp froma dealer is going to set me back 1.2k noooot goood :D

you're sure it hasnt just been chipped/remapped ?

An ECU is going to be VERY expensive. There are many specialists who can sort them for a fraction of the cost of a new one - maybe worth searching on Google, Yell etc to check for someone near to you.

Posibilities:
A 170 545 12 40
A 170 545 12 40
A 024 545 33 32
A 613 153 01 79
A 613 153 02 79
A 613 153 03 79 (i have found this one to buy already)

A170 545 12 40

Is the bracket for the ecu, EPC says A 613 153 03 79 is the engine ECU, although a MB dealer parts dept could confirm, possibly a coded part too.
