Help please. I having difficulty in the basics of how to use this, (I have paid the extra £310 to access DISTRONIC operations). As the photo shows there is a button for the limiter, but I cannot see how to get cruise control operating. I have managed to get it going once, but I am in my 70's and find it virtually impossible to drive and fiddle with the bloody knobs. I have Googled it, but all I can find is out of date posts that show previous steering wheel configarations. I would really appreciate any help with this please. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome.

To engage Cruise, on the lower spoke first flick the left-most rocker upwards. Downwards selects the speed limiter.

Then use the central one to set your target speed. Either up or down initially, and then up for faster / down for slower.

Use the right rocker switch to cancel cruise by flicking it down (or tap the brake pedal), or to resume the previously set target cruise speed, flick it up.

HTH?

Thank you very much for your reply, but I am a bit confused, you say flick the left upper up, this is marked for the adaptive cruise control distance between me and the vehicle in front, so I am still confused, sorry!

Try it. I suspect (but don’t know for certain) that it doubles as a following distance control too.

Hi Potplant, don't worry about what the functions are called by Mercedes . . . follow ST13's instructions and it will work fine ;)
Then play with it regularly - you'll soon find that it's the best thing since sliced bread !

In the "good old days" the salesman doing the handover of your new car would explain all its functions!

Right, and the next day a typical driver would remember 50% or the instructions (myself 10%).

OP, on a Mercedes there is no need to activate the cruise first, just use the "set speed" options. That is press the + or the - button as if you were increasing or decreasing the set speed. If cruise had been used previously on the trip, the Resume button would activate the previously set speed.

The manual helps a bit, you can have it as an app on the phone or you can use an on-line copy if the paper copy is not at reach. I just don't like the scattered approach MB manuals use on latest models but the search feature helps a lot (on-line or app versions).

You can download a full user manual for your car or browse/search an online one here:

Our 2019 C Class also has an on-board manual that's accessed through the screen in the car, so I'd assume a 2023 CLA would have something similar.

Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated, not yet been able to try the recommendations out.
