Hey can anyone help me, so I took my car in the Mercedes Benz garage with the problem and they said the diagnostic check found it was a Mercedes gear box software update, I had to pay £168 for the check even tho it was there faults for not contacting me to say bring it in. They told me it would be fine now. Long story short a week after it coming out the garage it's started doing it again and the check engine light is on now. I called the garage today to explain and that am down south due to my work and would have to drive it back up north for it looked at. They told me that they will do a check again and I was informed I will have to pay £168 again if they find a problem and it's a different one from the last one. Can they do that with me taking it in last time and explaining what was the problem and to sort it. Need advice asap as my car is going in Friday lunch time.

How do you work that out?
MB won't do a software update unless you tell them there's a problem (if it ain't broke, don't fix it).
They can and will charge for each diagnosis, they can't know until it's done if it's something new or not.
Suggest you find an indie.

I've no idea, was driving it and the problem happened with my revs. They told me they would but it on the computer and see what it brought up. Went to pick it up and they said it showed up that the gearbox was needing an software upgrade so they done it but only charged me for the diagnostic test. They told me that them doing the software update that the problem would be solved. 2 weeks on and it doing it again and now the amber check engine light has came on.

^ Take it to an indy.
They have the same diagnostic software and charge way less per hr than main dealer.

Where are you located so somebody may be able to recommend one?

what is a Indy??

An independent Mercedes specialist. They will have the same equipment and often better expertise, all whilst remaining at 1/2 the cost of a main dealer.
