I desperately need some advice.
The radio (NTG4.5) in my w212 has stopped working.
I have had it inspected at a local audio shop,
who report that it is not repairable, (although I find this
difficult to believe)
I then bought a used unit, only to find out that it cannot
be coded to my vehicle.
In desperation I enquired about a new unit from Mercedes
I have been quoted £2780.80 with a 2 month wait
for parts😵
What do I do?, Change my car?
Can anyone recommend a way forward?
Has anyone fitted a double din unit, using the kit in the photo?
Any advice appreciated, I cannot be unique in having a broken radio.Screenshot_20230728-094650.png

I'd call ComandOnline - they'll give you some options.

Did you get anywhere with this?
Hi, yes I am now sorted.
I bought a used unit from eBay, but it couldn't be coded to match the car.
As a last option I contacted MB to ask for a code, obviously they were no help.
So then I asked about a replacement unit from MB dealer.
They quoted £2800+ vat🤣
In the end I opted for the conversion kit as pictured earlier in this thread.
Works perfectly with a pioneer SPH-DA230DAB now fitted.
The kit fits much better than expected, and looks very smart.
Total bill was £620, and as this appears to be the only option available, I m quite satisfied, also I now have DAB and android car play navigation.
It has been a headache as it was difficult to find any guidance online.

Great news. I guess you didn’t have DAB before. If happy to share, a picture would be nice.

I am really impressed with the fit, I was expecting it
to look a little clumsy, but as there were no other alternatives
I am somewhat relieved.
It's a 2012 E class so DAB wasn't already included

To OP, are you sure that your E class does not have DAB, my early 2012 S212 has DAB.
After I bought it in 2018 I took it to Comand online for a dashcam fit, they also mentioned a firmware upgrade for Command system.
