The chap I sold my engine to in the USA is doing a complete restoration on his 560 SEL, as it's a European spec car He's having difficulty finding a part for a sticker for the engine bay. Specifically the following:-

I am going to detail the engine bay while im at it and one thing i am looking for is the part number for the engine sticker that goes near the radiator that indicates the engine timing and idle speed and cmpression ratio displacement etc.. for this engine.

My senior parts guy with MB on the USA has come up blank and suggested that i have someone in europe get a part number or picture off a similar vintage (1987) 560 with the same 10.0 comp engine. I wonder if you have any mates who have a car thus equiped that I could get such a part number or photo. I have attached my existing ID label as an example.

Can anyone help with a photo of the item itself?

He'd appreciate it.

I will have this car back here by the weekend - it was pampered so I suspect it will still have its original stickers. Let me know if you still need it by then.

These are definately available... just had a look through EPC but cant find it... I know because ive ordered them before..

Try ringing a dealer?

Thanks Jay, we just need the part number basically. If we can arrive at that we can then order as required. I said I'd order it for him of it was a nuisance to get it in North America.

well it could be one of many depending on country of origin

a1265845626
a1265848721
a1265845726 - Makes a reference to compression ratios but may no longer be available

Part numbers are:

126 584 66 21 before 9/87 with cat

126 584 56 26 post 9/87 with cat

126 584 87 21 code 822 300bhp version

126 584 57 26 low comp. engine

Not sure which one you should go for as I seem to recall the build sheet on your engine suggested it may have been a low comp. engine?
