Just bought a "94" CE220 W124 and the remote locking key fob for the central locking does'nt work. You can open the car manually with the standard key ( blade with a plastic head ) on the drivers and passengers side and the car opens and closes fine.

Now forgive my stupidity as i'm new on the scene but ......

1 - does this fob actually control the central locking or is it an alarm control or both ?

2 - Were is the receiver for the transmitter ?

3 - is there a common fault that can be rectified with a little work ?

4 - do i need a new fob or can these be re-synchronized to the car ?

5 - Is the car meant to have remote central locking which can be controlled by a fob ?

Ive enclosed a pic of key fob below

Thanks
Matt

Matt:I can only answer 1 and 2.That is remote loking with an alarm and on my car,the receiver was inside the glove box

Hi

I have this type of fob on my 1994 W124. It should remote lock/unlock the car and also activate the alarm and immobiliser.

I only have 1 fob and was told you cant get the fobs anymore so if it breaks when its locked, then you are stuffed immobiliser-wise.

So, i bought a new aftermarket remote locking device and wired it in and use that instead, although the original one still also works as intended.

so, in answer, from what i've read and have been told, if its broke you cant get the parts anymore, but you may have some luck from:

Scorpion Remote Controls

yes they can be resynced. i have the blue instructions for this. i scanned them in and posted them a year or two back. i'll try and find the images and post them back.
