Hi all, I have allegedly been caught doing 30+mph over the national speed limit on the A3 south bound at Ripley. I don't possibly know how that could happen in my car :D
Does anyone know a good specialist solicitor that specialises in this sort of offence. I'm not interested in any of the 'no bans r-us' bunch of firms - happy to pay the right money for the right help/result.
On a serious note thou, I have an exemplary driving record etc etc and in need to keep my licence. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Matt.

It may seem like an obvious question but if you need to keep your licence then why drive at 100mph on public roads when you know the consequences of being caught ?

If its not silly amounts over a ton , most you'll get is a little ban , couple of weeks or whatever.

Perhaps he was in a rush.

Stop being so pious.

Stop being so pious.

I don't see what being pious has to do with anything. I wasn't there at the time and don't really care what his speed may or may not have been. However, if you know the consequences of doing something but decide to do it anyway then there is little point in scrabbling around for a loophole afterwards.

Here we go. Another 40 page thread castigating the O/p...

Off you go Boys...

The OP was merely asking for advice. That's what forums are about.

I knew on one occasion (stood in the pouring rain, with backache on a horrid night) that if I speeded up replacing the plastic trim below the windscreen by using a cordless drill, that the trim may be a little too tight if I wasn't careful.
I'd been there ages (using a ratchet screwdriver for the screws umpteen times) trying to get the wiper motor to park properly, (thanks ECP ) so, with care, I took my chance and thought I'd got away with it.
The next morning there was a small crack in the screen. I knew it might happen, but took a chance. I made a mistake.
Does that mean I couldn't ask for advice as to where I'd get the best deal (me paying) on a replacement screen?

Since the scenario you describe isn't breaking the law then I don't really see the relevance. And getting the best deal on a windscreen is nothing like being "happy to pay the right money for the right help/result" whereby you try to buy your way out of a conviction with a tricky dicky lawyer is it ?

In both instances, the risk was assessed and a choice was made. Both came unstuck - same difference. It's only natural for the OP to ask for help after admitting the transgression.

I see Mr Freeman from time-to-time. Not really a "Tricky Dicky", he's a nice guy.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I don't think it is natural.

I'm not "without sin" but each time I've been nabbed for speeding I paid a fine and had points on my licence like everyone else is supposed to.

This could run and run...

I was caught doing 37mph downhill in the countryside.
So, points on my clean licence or speed awareness course?

Naturally, I opted for the SAC an learnt a thing or two.

I don't think the op is trying to get away with it. Just trying to get the best result possible. The law is like anything else pay peanuts get monkeys

Oh ffs... another one of these threads.

Hiring a good lawyer that knows his stuff is not evading the law, it's merely ensuring the best outcome of the law. The law isn't black and white - it's 50 billion shades of grey.

If you don't have a good lawyer, you'll get trampled, along with justice. Take it from someone who's been accused of driving without due care and attention by the Met without any evidence beyond the police officer's testimony (note he arrived AFTER the accident, given that I called the police). Yet the notes were written as if he had been present and witnessed the accident. Had to go to court over this, pay quite a bit of money only to see justice done.

How many times do we see people on the forum told "don't bother contesting the speeding ticket, just take the SAC or 3 points on the chin and get on with your life"? (I'm one of the first to give that advice too)

Are you honestly suggesting that the OP does not get a lawyer for something that could potentially have very dire consequences?
