C270 Avantgarde SE CDI
My recently purchased C270 CDI Avantgarde SE has different tyres on the back to the front. The two front tyres are 225/45 ZR17 and the rear tyres are 225/40 ZR17.

This is surely incorrect, as quick calc shows a 9mm difference in the tyre radius based on the 225 width. Without going into too much detail this must affect the gearing and speedometer reading.

I'm now not sure what size tyres should be fitted as I cannot work out whether this car just has fancy wheels or a suspension/handling/braking pack as the front disc's must be at least 330mm.

My CLK has 225.45.17 on the front and 245.40.17 on the rear.

Suspect yours should be the same. Someone has got mixed up when they ordered them.

Wow, confused.com

I need to ascertain just what wheels I have, according to the alloy wheel chart the rear tyres should be 245/40 17 and fronts 225/45 17.

Would seem I,m running a smaller rolling radius at the back which means when I get the corret tyres i will get more to the gallon anyway.

Seems to be a MB thing. I bought my W212 new with 18" alloys, front tyres are 245/40/Y/18, rears are 265/35/Y/18. :dk::)

Are the alloys genuine Mercedes? Identify the alloys you have on the link below, click on them to see further details like the size, width and what tyres they are meant to have.

Only if the alloys were a staggered setup i.e. the backs are wider than the front. Your alloys could be replicas with same width alloy front and back as you have stated they are all 225 tyres. If the width of the back alloys was wider they wouldnt have 225 tyres like the front. Only way to be sure is remove a rear alloy and look on the inside for stamp with the size and the part number.
